History of Binghamton University

Binghamton University (BU) was established around 1946 as the Triple Cities College, to serve a needs of local veterans giving from either World War II. Constituted around Endicott, New York, the college was a branch of Syracuse University. Whenever a college was incorporated into SUNY in 1950, it was renamed as Harpur College, around honor of Robert Harpur, a Compound teacher & pioneer world health organization settled in the Binghamton region. Within 1961, the college was moved to its todays location within Vestal, New York. When Harpur wwhen selected as one of a quaternity university centers of SUNY in 1965, it was renamed as a State University of Up to date York at Binghamton.
